What is Somatic Experiencing?

In this blog, I am introducing you to one of my favorite practices for myself and my clients - somatic experiencing.

No worries if you’re unsure, I was exactly the same when I received my Yoga Teacher Certification. I had no idea!

Somatic experiencing is a way for you to feel and to heal into your body.

It came onto the scene in the 70s by Dr. Peter Levine, as a way to help clients with PTSD.

It’s a heart-centered body approach. Some benefits include; helping with depression, anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain, and trauma.

Somatic experiencing is so important, as we’re ruled by our subconscious mind. It controls so much of our thoughts, actions, and inner feelings.

We need to identify what exactly is going on with us. This is where Somatic Experiencing comes in. It is a therapy form, where there is a focus on how your body responds to specific topics.  This allows you to discover and navigate the places where you hold trauma, pain, and anxiety, and how to heal your body and mind.

Trauma, if unresolved, lives in the cells and causes disease, and unease. Often, if you don’t address trauma, you may find distractions through addiction. This is not the way, beautiful souls.
